Celebrate Graduation in the Best Way Possible.. With the OC Beer Festival!!!

For all you true Best4Last followers out there, you might remember one of the very first posts we made: that the Beer Festival is coming to Orange County.. Well now its finally here!!

It’s time to remind ourselves as Americans that there is much more to beer than Anheuser-Busch, Coors, and Miller. It’s time to stick it to those conglomerate, substandard, yellow lagers and drink to the underground, the nonconformists, and the delicious. Because who doesn’t like a good craft beer? The OC Beer Festival will feature the city’s top breweries, as well as 60 domestic and international brands.

The Orange County Beer Festival will be this Saturday between 3-6pm, and $40 gets you unlimited beer! Sounds awesome!

Senior Thesis Film Screenings at Chapman University

Recently, I have had the pleasure of seeing the past 3 Senior Thesis cycle Screenings. As a business student, I must say that I’ve been completely taken aback by how beautiful, exciting, interesting, and bold that many of these movies have been. We all have heard how the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts has been growing, how the caliber of film students is incredibly high, and how the school is rivaling the top film schools in the country. But from my perspective at least, many Chapman students feel that the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts is its own island of film students that are separate from the rest of the campus. But again, that’s just from what I’ve seen.

I know many students never even see the beautiful work that is produced in the film school. Which is why I encourage Chapman students to visit these screenings. These directors, producers, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, production designers, etc. have lived and breathed their movies for the past year, and it’s definitely worth checking them out. Many of the films really are extremely entertaining, thought-provoking, and fun.

Plays: an Exciting Alternative to a Movie Night

It might sound a little old-fashioned, but you won’t be disappointed by the productions at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa.

Choose between the traditional Segerstrom stage, the more contemporary Julianne Argyros stage, plays for young audiences, and even student productions! It’s a wonderful alternative to the Saturday night movie date.

Love OC coastline? Here’s how to live it up!

So we all know that Orange County has amazing beaches. And we wouldn’t be Chapman students if we’ve never taken a trip over to the shore with a bunch of our friends. But most Chapman students haven’t seen everything that Orange County beaches have to offer. So, which beaches are the best and for what purpose? The Best4Last team researched the best beaches in Orange County and one travel blog had this to say:

  • Best Orange County Beaches: Amusements: Balboa: A nice pier with a restaurant on the end and the nearby Balboa Fun Zone give plenty to do here.
  • Best Orange County Beaches: Beach Volleyball: Huntington State: Lots of clean, soft sand and plenty of nets here.
  • Best Orange County Beaches: Birdwatching: Bolsa Chica: Located just across the street from a major stop on the Pacific Flyway, this place is really “for the birds.”
  • Best Orange County Beaches: Bonfires: Huntington State: A night bonfire on the beach is one of the best things to do in Orange County, and they’ve got plenty of places here to build your blaze.
  • Best Orange County Beaches: People-Watching: Main Beach, Laguna Beach: This small beach in the middle of downtown Laguna attracts a variety of people, and on the weekends, you’ll find artists and musicians there, too.
  • Best Orange County Beaches: Romantic: Main Beach: This small beach just off downtown Laguna Beach is popular with lovers for evening strolls.
  • Best Orange County Beaches: Surfing: Huntington Pier: Huntington Beach is so proud of its surfing heritage that they’ve trademarked the name “Surf City, USA.” Serious local surfers do their stuff near the pier. They don’t tolerate interlopers well, and beginners are better off to head to Bolsa Chica Beach, where many local surf schools give lessons.
  • Best Orange County Beaches: Relaxation : Newport Beach: When all you’re looking for is a chill time in the sun, reading a book, listening to music, or hanging out with some friends, there’s no place more relaxing than Newport Beach.
  • Orange County Beaches to Bare it All: There are no nude beaches in Orange County County. Your nearest option is San Diego County’s San Onofre.

So there you have it! Follow the links to get more information about each beach!
